Adele is a Golden Globe nominee !! The "Rolling In The Deep" and "Set Fire To The Rain" singer was named a nominee for Best Original Song this morning, joining the list of talented artists and writers to receive the coveted honor. Adele's nomination stems from her writing and singing on "Skyfall," taken from the motion picture of the same name. Adele is in great company in the Best Original Song category. Taylor Swift ("Safe & Sound," The Hunger Games), Keith Urban ("For You," Act of Valor) and Jon Bon Jovi ("Not Running Anymore," Stand Up Guys) are also nominated. In related news, Denzel Washington has received a Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama) nomination for his role in "Flight." "Django Unchained" has received five nominations, though neither Kerry Washington nor Jamie Foxx received nods... Don Cheadle is up for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Comedy or Musical for "House of Lies" and Hayden Panettiere is up for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for "Nashville." Hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards (Golden Globes) air Sunday, Jan. 13 on NBC. (list) 

IDOL JUDGES HIT HOLLYWOOD

Whether you love or hate her decision to take on the hit talent competition that is "American Idol," Mariah Carey is doing it and she's "happy and honored" to be there. What you might not have known is that Nick Cannon, her husband, was actually behind the final decision. Speaking out during a press conference Wednesday, Carey admitted that Nick, who is actually host of "America's Got Talent," thought it would be an amazing opportunity. "He really wanted me to do this and I had my own kind of reservations -- I didn't know how I would adapt to this situation," says Carey. "But it’s great to be here, I'm happy and honored to be here. "Not underestimating the power of the brand (look no further than Jennifer Lopez's resurgence), Carey says this is a "huge deal." This is massive. It’s one of the biggest television shows ever," says Carey. "It changed the way we look at music and changed people’s vocabularies. Pitchy?
